Bernhard Woebker

President & Chief Executive Officer

Bernhard Woebker is responsible for Versant’s operations as Chief Executive Officer and a member of Versant’s Board of Directors. He has served on Versant’s Board of Directors since June 2005 and was previously director of the Company from June 1999 until the Company’s merger with Poet Holdings, Inc. in March 2004.

Mr. Woebker served as Executive Vice President of the Company from March 1997 until January 1999 and as the Company’s Vice President and General Manager in Europe from January 1999 until July 2001. From 1994 to March 1997, he was the President of Versant Object Technology GmbH, an independently-owned distributorship to Versant products in Europe, which was subsequently acquired by Versant in 1997.

Prior to joining Versant, Mr. Woebker has held a variety of positions including executive positions with Nixdorf Computer, Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG, NeXT Computer, and Pyramid Technology.

Mr. Woebker received a Master’s of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science form the University of Hannover.

Jochen Witte

President and Chief Executive Officer,
Board of Directors

Jochen Witte is a member of Versant’s Board of Directors. He has served on Versant’s Board of Directors since March 2004, following Versant’s merger with Poet Holdings, Inc. and is a member of the Employee Option Committee and the Stock Buy-Back Committee of the Board.

Mr. Witte has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Versant since June 2005 until March 2011, and he served as the Company’s Chief Financial Officer and Secretary from June 2005 to June 2006. From March 2004 to June 2005, he served as President, European Operations of Versant.

Prior to joining Versant, Mr. Witte was CEO of Poet Holdings, Inc., a company that merged with Versant in 2004 and which he co-founded in 1993. He initially worked as Poet’s Managing Director of Germany and became Poet’s Chief Financial Officer in 1999 when Poet went public.

Mr. Witte received a degree in Business Administration from the Technische Universität Berlin, and also attended the University of Wales as an exchange student.

Jerry Wong

Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Finance and Secretary

Jerry Wong has been Versant’s Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Finance and Secretary since June 2006. He is responsible for Versant’s accounting and financial operations.

Mr. Wong was Vice President of Finance of Poet Holdings, Inc. and also served as Vice President of Finance and Executive Vice President of U.S. operations of its affiliate, Poet Software Corporation from 1995 to 2002. He played a principal role in Poet Holdings, Inc.’s IPO in 1999 as well as several financing rounds prior to the IPO. Mr. Wong provided financial consulting and served as CFO for two privately-held high tech companies from 2002 to 2006. Additionally, he served as an independent trustee and chairperson of the audit committee of Firsthand Mutual Funds from January 2000 to 2008.

Mr. Wong holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of San Francisco.

Robert Greene

Vice President,
Technology

Robert Greene has served in various managerial positions with Versant since 1997 and currently oversees Versant’s strategic technology partners, developer relations programs, and business development for the emerging markets in China and India. An industry thought leader with extensive experience in object-oriented systems design, Mr. Greene presents regularly at developer conferences and seminars on the topics of object persistence, NoSQL and Big Data information systems.

Mr. Greene is also responsible for providing strategic technical expertise in areas including Versant’s product portfolio, product architecture, product roadmap, and implementation to Versant’s key accounts. In prior years, Mr. Greene was responsible for Versant’s open source initiatives, online developer community and key account services.

Prior to Versant, Mr. Greene held roles as Chief Engineer and Director of Operations and Senior Technical Manager at Seaboard Systems, managing teams of professionals working on F4 and F16 aircraft systems for the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Greene holds a BSEE from a Florida State University.

Kee Ong

Chief Technology Officer

Kee Ong is responsible for Versant’s technology vision.

Dr. Ong was the founder and CTO of Versant Object Technology Corporation. Before Versant, Dr. Ong worked on key-values file system, SQL, and Distributed SQL at various database companies.

Before rejoining Versant in 2011, Dr. Ong also worked as CTO of a number of startups in the areas of ecommerce, Application Integration, and Cloud Computing. Dr. Ong also taught at Singapore Management University as an Associate Professor in Singapore.

Dr. Ong received his Ph.D. degree in Mathematics from Toronto University, Canada.

Volker John

Managing Director

Volker John is responsible for overseeing the research and development efforts for both the Versant and FastObjects database technologies as well as worldwide customer support. Mr. John has 15 years of professional experience in Software and IT.

Mr. John previously held a position in product management from 1997 to 2000 at Poet Software GmbH, the original FastObjects developer, which was acquired by Versant in 2004. He has also held positions as a Director in Business Development at nugg.ad AG in 2011 and Director of Product Management at SAPERION AG from 2005-2010.

Mr. John received his degree in Business Administration (Diplom-Kaufmann) at the University of Lüneburg.

David Ingersoll

Vice President,
Sales Americas & APAC

David Ingersoll is responsible for sales in the Americas and Asia Pacific regions.

Mr. Ingersoll has over 17 years of sales and sales management experience with companies including Magic Software, Digitalk, Select Software, IBM, GoldenGate Software and Penguin Computing. He was a member of the sales management team and a key member of the strategy committee on acquisitions, product direction and business operations at Versant from 2001 to 2006.

Between 2006 and 2007, Mr. Ingersoll worked at GoldenGate Software, and from 2007 to 2009, was Vice President, Sales at Penguin Computing. Mr. Ingersoll rejoined Versant in 2009 to lead and grow sales in the Americas and Asia Pacific regions.

Mr. Ingersoll received his B.S. in Computer Science and B.A. in Business Administration with a Major in Marketing from California State University, Fullerton.

Dirk Bartels

Vice President of Product Strategy and Marketing

Dirk Bartels is responsible for Versant’s strategic product management, product marketing and the overall strategic vision of the company.

Prior to Versant, Mr. Bartels was co-founder and CEO of Poet Software, one of the pioneers of the object database industry, and served as a Director at the Object Database Management Group (ODMG). Before joining Versant in 2010, Mr. Bartels worked as a strategy consultant for the Private Cloud software company Surgient (acquired by Quest) and a number of technology start up companies.

Mr. Bartels received his Master’s of Computer Science degree from the Technische Universität Berlin.

William Henry Delevati

Chairman, Board of Directors

William Henry Delevati has been the Chairman of the Board since June 2005 and has served as a director of the Company since October 1999. Mr. Delevati is currently the chairman of the Nominating Committee and a member of the Audit, Compensation and Employee Option Committees of the Board.

Mr. Delevati has also served as a consultant to various companies located in the Silicon Valley area since April 2000. From October 1999 to April 2000, Mr. Delevati served as the Senior Vice President, Information Technology and Chief Information Officer of Aspect Communications Corporation, a provider of customer call center solutions. From November 1995 to April 1999, he served as Vice President of Worldwide Information Services for Quantum Corporation, a storage device company. From April 1995 to November 1995, Mr. Delevati was the Chief Information Officer, Senior Vice President of MIS for Conner Peripherals, a storage device company. From September 1994 to April 1995, Mr. Delevati was the Chief Information Officer, Vice President of Worldwide MIS for Borland Corporation, a software tools company. From September 1993 to September 1994, he was the Chief Information Officer, Vice President of Worldwide MIS for Logitech, a computer peripheral device company. From December 1987 to September 1993, Mr. Delevati was the Director of Application Development and Global Information Resources for Sun Microsystems, Inc.

Mr. Delevati received a B.S. degree in Computer Science from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Arizona State University.

Uday Bellary

Board of Directors

Uday Bellary has served as a director of Versant and Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors since July 2003 and is also a member of the Compensation, Nominating and Stock Buy-Back Committees of the Board.

From February 2010 to the present, Mr. Bellary has served as the Chief Financial Officer of GreenVolts, Inc., a privately-held company that develops and commercializes concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) technology for solar energy applications. From May 2007 to December 2009, Mr. Bellary served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Wortal, Inc., and is currently serving as its Chairman of the Board. Wortal, Inc. is a privately-held internet portal that focuses on entertainment, services, local activities, home needs, etc. accessible from the Internet and mobile platforms.

Mr. Bellary also previously served as the Chief Financial Officer of Atrica, Inc., a privately-held optical Ethernet company, VL, Inc., a privately-held VoIP services company, Metro Optix, Inc., a privately-held provider of optical networking equipment and MMC Networks (a Public Company) from 1997 to 2008. Prior to that Mr. Bellary held senior level positions at Cirrus Logic & Intel Corporation.

Since July 2004, Mr. Bellary has also been a member of the Board of Directors of Backweb Technologies Ltd., a publicly held provider of software that enables mobile workers to access web-based applications, that is no longer a reporting company under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.

Mr. Bellary received a B.S. degree in Finance, Accounting and Economics from Karnatak University and a DMA degree in Finance from the University of Bombay, India. Mr. Bellary is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Accountant.

Dr. Herbert May

Board of Directors

Dr. Herbert May has served as a director of the Company since March 2004, is currently the Chairman of the Compensation Committee and a member of the Audit, Nominating and Stock Buy-Back Committees of the Board.

From November 2000 to March 2004, Dr. May served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Poet Holdings, Inc., a company that merged with Versant in March 2004. In addition, Dr. May served as a member of both the Audit and Compensation Committees of Poet Holdings, Inc. Since October 2010, Dr. May has served on the Board of Directors of Intershop AG as chairman. He is also chairman of ubidyne Inc., a US/German company focusing on smart antennas for mobile communication.

Dr. May has held several leading positions at Alcatel in both Stuttgart and Paris. His last position at Alcatel was Head of the Office Communication Division in Germany. From February 1994 to September 1995, Dr. May took a leading role as CEO in establishing DeTeSystems, a German wholly-owned subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG that provided system solutions for telecommunications services to the top 200 significant accounts in Germany. In 1995, he was appointed to the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom AG, where he was responsible for large business customers, multimedia and systems solutions until May 1998.

Currently, Dr. May manages his own consulting and investment company and is a member of the advisory boards of several IT and multimedia companies. From June 2000 to December 2008 he served on the Board of Directors of InfoVista S.A., a publicly held French company that provides software products that monitor and analyze the performance of telecommunications and IT infrastructures.

Bernhard Woebker

Board of Directors

Bernhard Woebker has served as a director of the Company since June 2005 and was previously a director of the Company from June 1999 until the Company’s merger with Poet Holdings, Inc. in March 2004. He currently serves as a member of the Audit Committee of the Board. Mr. Woebker has been a consultant to various investment banking and venture capital firms in Europe and the United States since late 1999.

From January 1999 until July 2001, he served as Executive Vice President of the Company and from March 1997 until January 1999 he served as the Company’s Vice President and General Manager in Europe. From 1994 to March 1997, he was the President of Versant Object Technology GmbH, an independently-owned distributorship for Versant products in Europe, which was acquired by Versant in March 1997. From 1976 until 1994, Mr. Woebker held a variety of positions in Germany and the United States with Nixdorf Computer AG, Nixdorf Computer Engineering Corp. and Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG, all information technology companies, including the position of President and CEO of Nixdorf Computer Engineering Corp. in Boston, Massachusetts from 1986 to 1989. Mr. Woebker has also served as Senior Vice President, Pyramid Technology Corp. in Europe and as Vice President, NeXT Computer, Inc. in Europe. From March 2010 to September 2010, Mr. Woebker served on the board of directors of Intershop AG. Mr. Woebker received a Masters of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Hannover.
