Hello,

from time to time my applications are getting the error -2506 -> "The physical connection was broken". This happens not only on real client PCs but also on the PC that is hosting the FastObjects Server and the databases. The FastObjects Server 8.0.4.153 is used.

What connection is broken when this error occurs (Client <-> FastObject Service <-> Database)?

How can the physical connection break when the client application, the FastObject Service and the database are on the same PC?

Hello,

This error indicates that a connection between FastObjects client application and the FastObjects Server was established and has been detected as broken.
It could be a interruption in the network connection or the FastObjects Server has been terminated abnormally.

If you run client and server on the same machine, then the FastObjects Server may have crashed?

If you are the vendor of the FastObjects application then you should contact your local Support Team.
Otherwise you should contact the vendor of the software.

FastObjects 8.0 is quite old. You may want to upgrade to a recent version (FastObjects 11.0).

Hello,

We noticed this problem also with FastObjects Version 10.x.
The communication on the same machine can interrupt if the CPU and disk is under heavy load. Maybe a problem with some timeouts under this circumstances.

Hello Thomas,

please contact your local Versant support team at support@versant.net

FastObjects uses standard Windows socket operations to connect the client applications to the FastObjects Server, and -2506 means the connection between client socket and server socket broke up.

what the support team need to find out basically is
-if the FastObjects server crashes during that time.
-or the load on that computer is so high that it can not keep the connection between FastObjects Server and the client application alive.

Thanks,
