Job Description

A Senior Software Engineer at Versant is responsible for designing, writing, testing and maintaining features and functionality for our object-oriented data management system. Collaborating with our development site in Pune (India) and the technical staff in Redwood City (CA/USA), the Senior Software Engineer works on the API as well as on the kernel. Therefore, the engineer significantly shoulders responsibility for a technology that is used as the backbone for a multitude of mission-critical software applications with more than 50,000 installations worldwide.

Candidate Profile

Educational Qualifications and Skills

• BE or Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science with at least 4 years of relevant experience
  
• Expertise in C, C++, C# and/or Java with proven experience of designing complex system software
  
• Experience in state-of-the art software design and object-oriented programming is essential
  
• Experience in database internals/distributed systems is an added advantage
• Writing technical documentation together with our documentation team / technical authors and used to work closely with QA
• Problem-solving and thinking laterally as part of a team, or individually, to meet the needs of the project
  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• In-depth involvement in the developement of an Object-Oriented Data Management System (ODBMS, OODBMS)
• Close collaboration with our technical staff in Hamburg (Germany), Pune (India) and Redwood City (CA/USA), willingness to travel
• Permanent research and training on new technologies which will be used to furtherly enhance our database system, such like JPA, JDO, Eclipse
