Jochen Witte

Chief Executive Officer

Jochen Witte is a member of Versant's Board of Directors and is responsible for Versant's operations.

Most recently, Witte was the CEO of Poet Holdings Inc., a public U.S. company trading on the German Stock Exchange. He co-founded the company in 1993, initially working as the Managing Director of Germany and became the CFO in 1999 when the company went public. Prior to Poet, he was with BKS Software, where he rose to Managing Director after beginning with responsibility for sales and training.

Witte received a degree in business administration from the Berlin Technical University and also attended the University of Wales as an exchange student.

Jerry Wong

Chief Financial Officer, VP of Finance & Secretary

Jerry Wong is responsible for Versant’s accounting and financial operations.

Mr. Wong was VP of Finance of Poet Holdings, Inc., and also served as VP of Finance and Executive VP of US operations of its affiliate, Poet Software Corporation until October 2002.  He played a principal role in Poet Holdings, Inc.’s IPO in November 1999 as well as several financing rounds prior to the IPO.  He has provided financial consulting and served as CFO for two privately held high tech companies since October 2002.  Additionally, Mr. Wong has served and continues to serve as an independent trustee of Firsthand Mutual Funds since January 2000, also acting as chairperson of the audit committee since 2002.

Mr. Wong received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting from the University of San Francisco.

Robert Greene

Vice President, Open Source Operations

Robert Greene is responsible for Versant’s open source operations. This includes working with the db4o open source community to ensure Versant is delivering a quality solution reflecting the needs of the embedded object database market. Greene is responsible for all aspects of db4o operations including engineering, marketing, sales and support. He is responsible to execute Versant’s overall open source strategy, leveraging Versant’s community involvement to obtain increased visibility and adoption of Versants commercial product offerings.

Prior to taking lead on Versant’s open source initiatives, Greene had responsibility for defining Versant's overall product strategy and direction, including strategic planning, product planning, and business development. He continues to provide guidance in these activities and technical expertise to key customers regarding Versant's product lines, including product architecture, implementation, features, and future capabilities.  
Greene joined Versant in 1997 and has held numerous roles at the Director level and above in key business functions including: engineering, marketing, support, technical sales and training. He has helped many large companies use Versant technology to implement next-generation business systems in the bio-informatics, telecommunications, defense, finance, and transportation industries.

Prior to his work with Versant, Robert Greene was Chief Engineer and Director of Operations at Seaboard Systems, and before that he worked as a technical manager, managing teams of professionals working on F4 and F16 aircraft systems for the U.S. Air Force. An industry thought leader with extensive experience in object-oriented systems design, Greene presents regularly at Java conferences and seminars on the topic of object persistence and J2EE application architectures. He holds a BSEE from a Florida State University.

Andreas Renner

Vice President, Software Engineering

Andreas Renner is responsible for designing and implementing new features and functionality for Versant’s object oriented database systems in the development sites Hamburg (Germany), Redwood City (California) and Pune (India).

Renner has experience in the development of object oriented database systems for about 20 years. Prior to shouldering responsibility for the development of all Versant database products, he was responsible for the FastObjects product line. Renner started with BKS Software as a software developer and was part of the initial development team of the POET database (former name of FastObjects).

Renner received a master's degree in Computer Science (Dipl. Inform.) from the Technical University Berlin.

GERHARD KLEIN

Vice President, Product Engineering

Gerhard Klein is responsible for Versant’s product engineering and infrastructure activities in the development sites Hamburg (Germany) and Pune (India).

Klein joined Versant in 1996 as senior consultant, and was promoted to Manager Professional Services in 1998. In 2006 he joined the engineering department as Manager CARE group.
Klein has more than 12 years of practical field experience with most diverse Versant customer projects and has a wide-ranging knowledge of Versant ODBMS and other database technologies.

Prior to joining Versant in 1996, Klein worked in various positions at several IT companies.
After his master’s degree in Computer Science (Dipl. Inform.) from the Technical University Karlsruhe, he started working as a Software Developer and afterwards as a Technical Presales Consultant and as a Consulting Manager for different IT companies.

David Ingersoll

Vice President, Sales Americas & APAC

David Ingersoll is responsible for sales in the Americas and Asia Pacific Regions.

Ingersoll has over 17 years of Sales and Sales Management experience with companies, such as, Magic Software, Digitalk, Select Software, IBM, GoldenGate Software and Penguin Computing. Ingersoll was a member of the Sales Management team at Versant Corporation from 2001 until 2006. Ingersoll ran the Western Region in Sales, then was the Program Director for the Americas and Asia Pacific for Versant's Open Access Solution. Additionally, he was a key member of the strategy committee on acquisitions, product direction and business operations. From 2006 until 2007, Ingersoll was with GoldenGate Software. From 20007 until 2009, Ingersoll was Vice President, Sales at Penguin Computing. He rejoined Versant  in 2009 to lead and grow sales in the Americas and Asia Pacific Regions.

David Ingersoll received his Bachelor of Science, with a Major in Computer Science and Bachelor of Arts,  Business Administration with a Major in Marketing from California State University, Fullerton.
