Versant Object Database with JDO API and Eclipse plugin / Tight integration with Eclipse Development Environment /  Hyperdrive to speed up data access

The recent version of Versant´s Object Database comes with a JDO-Java API and is tightly integrated into the Eclipse Development Environment. Using the Versant Object Database for data storage brings powerful advantages to applications that use complex Java object models, have high concurrency requirements and large data sets. A special Hyperdrive function enables high-speed access to all persistent classes at runtime.
Versant Object Database is particularly well suited to storing complex object networks and recursive, polymorphic structures, resulting in faster time to market, more scalable applications, higher performance, and lower cost of hardware. Databases of this type are therefore used worldwide in a wide variety of mission critical applications in the fields of telecommunications, financial industries, CAD, manufacturing and knowledge management.

Development and deployment of Versant´s JDO-Java API has been driven by the companies longtime involvement in the Java Community Process, guided by Sun Microsystems. For many years Versant takes an active part in the development of the JDO Java standard. Applications developed with JDO Java are portable and independent from the underlying database technology. Developers can fully concentrate on the business model of the application and can leave persistence details to the JDO implementation – in this case Versant´s Object Database. Versant´s JDO interface is Technology Compatibility Kit (TCK) compliant.
