New Service Release 7.0.1.2 of Versant Object Database provides additional High Availability Features and new JCA Integration

Versant Corporation (NASDAQ: VSNT), an industry leader in specialized data management software, today announced availability of Service Release 7.0.1.2 for its flagship product, Versant Object Database.

In response to an overall tendency among users to store and retrieve more complex data in a real-time mode, the new Service Release of Versant’s object-oriented data management system features enhancements and additional options for high availability in various environments. Furthermore, the new release provides a new JVI JCA adapter for easy integration with JCA compliant J2EE application servers.

Some of the highlights of Service Release 7.0.1.2. for the Versant Object Database are as follows:

• Warm Standby: Restoring a database by applying all relevant archives sequentially is not ideal for time-critical applications. Versant Object Database 7.0.1.2 now provides Warm Standby functionality as an add-on module. Archives are applied incrementally as they become available, thereby eliminating tedious archive updates during a recovery process.
• Performance Boost for Versant Fault Tolerant Server: The Versant Fault Tolerant Server Add-on module now executes the commit operations on both the primary and backup servers simultaneously. This can boost the performance by up to 50% for certain applications.
• JVI JCA Integration: In addition to Versant’s JDO integration, the new JVI (Java™ Versant Interface) JCA adapter allows JVI clients to integrate directly with any JCA compliant J2EE application server. Additionally, the new adapter allows Versant enJin users to easily migrate from VDS 6.0.5 to VOD7.
